Chestnut Pollination

  • Pollination Forms for reporting on mother tree pollinations and harvest. [Excel format] [*Adobe PDF format].
  • Tree Locator Forms for reporting on mother tree locations, size, condition and logistics considerations for pollinating. [MS-Word format] and [*Adobe PDF format]
*With the Adobe PDF version, just print out, fill in and mail to Leila at the CT offices at Yale.

Chestnut Cultivation

  • Chestnut Growing Guide A short paper on how to grow chestnuts in our area, by the Pennsylvania Chapter. [20kb]
  • CT-TACF Mother Trees A listing of the Trees in CT. [170kb]
  • The Pennsylvania State Chapter has an excellent explanation of the backcross breeding and intercross program at this page. It describes in very understandable terms how the program works, and the definitions of abbreviations used.
  • A question I've heard raised is, "what are the reforestation plans once resistant trees are developed?" Distribution Strategy, Consensus Points is the TACF official plan for the reforestation as of 2003. In addition, here in CT we are active in both the Private Forest Stewardship Committee and the Public Forest Stewardship Committee of the CT Forest Forum which gives us a huge network of public and private foresters with who to communicate about distribution
