2010 Long Range Tactical Planning
By Bill Adamsen
CT Chapter President
Long range tactical planning involves setting goals, the implementation steps to achieve those goals, and the metrics for measuring performance, usually with a five to ten year term.
The CT Chapter performed a long range tactical plan in 2005\2006 - and has consistently followed that plan over the past four to five years. As we move into territory not covered in that plan - specifically the seed orchard for inter-cross material, and restoration - we find a need to produce a road map for these new challenges.
At the Meeting of the CT Chapter Board on November 14th, 2009, we discussed the need to draft such a plan for Board review. The decision was to create an outline for the work that would need to be done (a plan), and review that at the following Board meeting in March. Realistically, even if the first back-cross trees are inoculated and selected this year, it will be two years (spring 2012) before we plant the seed orchard.
The below outline represents that outline to foster discussion and hopefully lead to a Board approved process for the creation of the Committee, and selection of Committee Chair for this long term planning.
